Maker Faire, you're crazy and i love you

It's Sunday night and I'm home from another Maker Faire. I sold lots of jewelry, but now it's time for bed. I just thought I'd let you know I declare this years sale the year of the plushie. So much adorable stuffed goodness at the show, I wanted to bring them all home with me. I got a tiny owl broach like the one above, but mine is green. And I got two cute cube animals by em b. to give as gifts. Kids were crazy for them! I was lucky enough to be sitting right behind My Imaginary Boyfriend. I couldn't stop staring at her well put together booth full of stuffed logs. And who doesn't love a stuffed hambone?

new items for the show

It's still crunch time here in the studio, but I thought I'd take a minute to show you what I've been working on. Here are some new bracelets and a pair of earrings for the show I'll be selling at this weekend. The bracelets are all one of kind with different charms... some vintage, some handmade, and even some tiny lockets. I wish I had time to style them better for you, but it's always a madness the day before a big sale. Come visit me at the Maker Faire this weekend. If you can't make it, look for what doesn't sell to be in my etsy store. it's crunch time

I wish I was talking about crunching on some macaroons, but I actually mean It's time to crank into high gear and make a bunch of pretty jewelry for the upcoming Maker Faire. Honestly I'm freaking out little bit, It's been a very busy month for me and I thought I'd have more time for creating than I have. There are so many new ideas in my head but haven't had time to work on them. My day job has been keeping me very busy and I have two big photo shoots next week that need some prep work. I also have family in from Boston staying with me. Yup, very busy. But today and tomorrow are all about creating. Well, maybe I'll do some grilling tomorrow too. A girl's gotta eat.

paris or bust

A friend of mine is leaving Saturday on a trip to London and Paris. I've been dreaming of Paris lately and oh how I wish I could go too! chalk it up

Are you loving things covered in chalkboard paint as much as i am? Here are some that have really caught my eye. Chalkboard wall decal above fan by spellitoutdesigns etsy ; chalkboard candle from Delight; get organized chalkboard labels by Sherae etsy; so sorry, can't remember where I came across this other photo, it's been in my inspiration folder for months. 

I saw this chalk covered egg around easter time on one of my daily reads, thanks, this is glamorous. The cute puppers is sitting in front of a vintage cabinet by no. eight, and the recycle bin is from viva terra.

in bloom

I came across a new magazine the other day, sew simple. It might not actually be that new, but I hadn't seen it before. It's totally great. Easy sewing projects anyone can do. Inside they had felt flower patterns, along with that pretty photo in the upper right corner. I try to have fresh flowers in my home as often as I can. I love how these will brighten up a room and never need watering. Also via Pam Garrison's wonderful blog I came across this tutorial, that I just love. When I have some spare time, I definitely want to try and make some lovely vintage style fabric stamens.

She's photographed some really beautiful books for them. it's my party and

You see where I'm going with this. . . . I'll cry if I want to! No not really, I'm not crying, but I'm not that excited about turning another year older either. I'll tell you what I am excited about, being able to use the B-day excuse to by myself things the entire month of May! {the stunning photo on the left is styled by the amazing Rebecca Thuss and the yummy sprinkles cupcake on the right bathed in happy light is by Victoria Pearson.}

ruffles and bows

I fell in love with these gorgeous photos by Nicole Nodland in the new issue of lula magazine. I also adore the styling, I'd love to wear that pink dress to my next craft sale. Okay, that might be a little over the top, but it's so pretty. I came across Lula last weekend and had to get the new issue. All the photos are beautiful and dreamy. They even featured Donna Huddleston an interesting illustrator. If you see it on the newsstand, pick it up, you wont be disappointed.

One thing I miss about the East Coast is Lilac season. There's nothing like a bouquet of fresh lilacs picked from the backyard. For all the details on this outfit go here.

flowers for me

I got myself some flowers at the farmer's market and put them in this adorable vase a friend got for me last Christmas. I think it's meant to be a creamer, but I sometimes keeps colorful pencils in it on my desk so I can keep it out on display. It's too pretty to be put away in my cabinet. It's made by Rae Dunn, a clay artist from San Francisco. You can find her charming work on etsy.

field trip: farmers market

Every Sunday I tell myself I'm going to go to the farmers market, after all it's just a quick walk from my house. But I can't even count how many times I get caught up in something and forget to go. Then I'm kicking myself when I go to the grocery store Sunday night and all the produce looks so sad. Well today I got up nice and early, grabbed my tote bag, my camera, and off i went. 

I pass this cute little church with the red door on my route through the neighborhood. They used to have a small resale shop that I liked to donate my spring cleaning items to. Once I even scored some things for myself... a pair of knitting needles and a few vintage knitting patterns from the 1960's. The patterns were of poncho's and hats and scarves, all so stylish.

As I was putting this post together I noticed how many photos I took of the root vegetables (and the dirtier the better) then I realized I didn't actually buy any. I love a yummy roasted beet or two! Oh well, there's always next Sunday.

I'm loving butterflies

And I'm seeing them everywhere. Do a search on Anthropologie and you'll uncover more than 50 pretty things with butterflies on them including this cool poncho. Well, I'm not quite sure I could pull that off, but here are some other butterfly themed things I think are lovely and I'd love to have them.

special guest craft project: tepee

One day last week my four-year old mentioned something about a tepee. Since he is an only child (and he’s going to stay that way), whenever he expresses even the vaguest passing interest in something, my husband and I practically knock each other over in our rush to satisfy his whim. A tepee you say? On it! 

 

The little kid tepees and play tents I found online were kind of disappointing. I knew I could make something I’d like better and cheaper than it would be to order one. Plus a tepee just seems like one of those things you’re supposed to make yourself.
